I believe we should celebrate where we live and so, many of my books are about Essex County, Ontario.
I think children are encouraged to read about places and events where they have had first-hand experiences.

I also believe that children should be challenged as well as entertained so my books provide opportunities to learn about plants or how to stay safe from a fire, for instance. Older students may also enjoy discovering life in the past or facts about a 105 year old Jack Miner Bird Sanctuary

As a retired teacher, I love to go into classrooms to talk about how books are made and how students can be inspired to write. As an adult, I enjoy meeting people who are interested in writing their own life stories. I am glad of the opportunity to help them. My desire to help others has led me to being actively involved in my own church and as a volunteer for The Hospice of Windsor. My books reflect my interests in my community.
